The Tennessee Department of Transportation says lane closures, resurfacing and bridge work are scheduled across Putnam County and the Upper Cumberland from Oct. 8-14, with some listed projects continuing beyond that week. The department’s report covers work on interstates and state routes in Putnam and surrounding counties.

In Putnam County, the department says construction continues in the I-40 median between mile markers 303.6 and 304.2, with traffic shifted and construction vehicles in the area. On SR-136 between the I-40 eastbound ramps and SR-24, nightly lane closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.; one lane in each direction will be closed, with flaggers at side roads.

The department says utility work on SR-24 (Broad Street), between SR-291 and Country Farm Road, is scheduled Oct. 8-18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with flagging-assisted lane closures. Utility work on SR-291 between SR-24 and SR-56 and on SR-56 between Hulon Ferrell Road and Old Gainesboro Road is listed Oct. 5-Dec. 18, also from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with flagging-assisted lane closures.

In neighboring Cumberland County, TDOT says bridge repairs over Main Street near Crab Orchard are scheduled to begin Oct. 12. Work will take place primarily beneath I-40 at mile marker 328.2, and one Main Street lane will be closed with a temporary signal directing traffic. The department also reports that SR-24 is closed at mile markers 15.06-15.6 for a bridge replacement over the Obed River; the posted detour uses SR-462 and SR-1.

TDOT says no project costs are stated in the report. For information, the department lists (615) 741-2848 and TDOT.Comments@tn.gov.
