The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Athletics department reported that Chattanooga volleyball lost 3-1 to Tennessee Tech in Cookeville on Tuesday, Oct. 6. The match was the first between the in-state teams as Southern Conference opponents, according to the department’s announcement.
The match was listed for 6 p.m. Central time at Tennessee Tech, with watch and live-stat coverage available, according to the announcement. Chattanooga entered at 5-11 overall and 0-4 in SoCon play, while Tennessee Tech was 8-8 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
Before the match, Chattanooga had lost four straight to open conference play, the announcement said. The Mocs’ previous two matches were losses at Furman: 3-2 on Oct. 1 and 3-0 on Oct. 2. Chattanooga’s most recent win before facing Tennessee Tech came Sept. 19, when it beat Norfolk State 3-2.
The schools had not met since 2021, when Tennessee Tech won 3-0, according to the announcement. Chattanooga’s listed series record against Tennessee Tech was 14-30 overall and 2-13 in road matches.
